Cairns Libraries 'Recharge Program' was a finalist for the Inclusive Community Champion Awards run by the Spinal Injuries Association for best Government department or agency category. For implementing recharge stations and improving access across the region in libraries.

This initiative provides all users of motorised devices more freedom to travel further from home and spend more time out and about (and in the library) after recharging their battery operated motorised transport in the library.
