Carols by Candlelight

 

Every year the largest carols event in the region, Carols by Candlelight, is held at Fogarty Park to help raise funds for the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal.

This worthwhile cause provides food hampers to over 500 needy families in the Cairns region making their Christmas more enjoyable.

The 2011 event has been designed to delight all members of the family, young and old  with appearances by:

• Christmas Harmonies
• Rhys Tolhurst
• June Vale Dancers
• Cairns Choral Society
• Chris Lloyds
• Christmas Harmonies
• Soul Song
• Out of the Blue
• Cairns Young Voices
• The Doyle Family

The Cairns Junior Choral Society will be the lead choir this year.  Of course no carols event would be complete without the man himself – Santa Claus – who will make guest appearances throughout the night.

This year song books will be available in The Weekend Post on Saturday 10 December and you can keep up to date with what’s happening with ZINC FM.

The fun starts at 6.30pm, but be sure to get there early and mark out your spot on the grass.   Food, The Weekend Post song book pull-outs and candles on sale from 4pm.
