International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated across the world on 8th March each year. The purpose of the day is to recognise women and their achievements regardless of nationality, ethnicity or cultural, political or economic background.
This International Women's Day, Cairns Regional Council will be celebrating the triumphs of countless everyday heroines and awe-inspiring women who are creatively and courageously making progress in all aspects of social, political and economic life, all around the world - and in our own region.

Nominations for the 2014 Cairns Regional Council Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year awards are now open. To nominate a woman or young woman of Cairns you who think have made an outstanding contribution to the lives of women and girls living in the region, please print the nomination form and either mail to:

Nominations close Friday 21 February 2014.
Winners will be announced at the annual Cairns Regional Council International Women's Day Breakfast on Saturday 8 March from 7.30am at the lovely Shangri-La Hotel, Cairns.
