Sustainability grant program
Introduced by Council in 2011, the Climate Change and Sustainability Grant program provides financial assistance to not-for-profit community groups that want to make a positive contribution to promoting sustainable communities, improving energy efficiency, or enhancing community resilience to climate change and/or peak oil.
The grant aims to encourage:
- increased awareness of sustainability and/or climate change and enhanced community resilience to climate change;
- partnerships between Council and community groups;
- improvements in resource efficiency, ecological resilience, community health and wellbeing and economic sustainablity; and
- a greater sense of community and connection to our local environment.
The grant is open for applications in October to November of each year. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for succesful groups from a total pool of $20,000.
