Local Heritage Register

Changes to the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 (QHA) came into effect on 31 March 2008 making it compulsory for local governments to prepare and keep a register of places of local cultural heritage significance in its area.

Council established a Local Heritage Register in accordance with these requirements on 25 January 2012. 

There are currently no places identified in the Local Heritage Register. The inclusion of places in the Local Heritage Register will be undertaken as part of the development of the Cairns Region Planning Scheme.

At the Ordinary meeting on 25 January 2012, Council resolved that inclusion of properties on the Local Heritage Register be undertaken as part of the new planning scheme for the Cairns region.
