A charity golf day will be held at the Cairns Golf Club tomorrow (Friday 7 July), raising money for the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal.

Around 120 players will tee-off tomorrow morning for the Mayor’s Charity Golf Day, under a four-player Ambrose format. All players tee-off at 9am.

Mayor Bob Manning said the golf day was a great way for the business community to give back while having a bit of fun.

“We’re aiming to raise $20,000 at the event, which will go towards provide food hampers to people in need during Christmas,” Cr Manning said.

“The smiles that light up the faces of people when they are given a hamper is all you need see to know that this is a worthwhile cause, which brings some festive cheer to the lives of those who need it most.”

Cr Manning also thanked major supporters of the event Tropic Spirit and Heightened Security Solutions & Heightened Services, along with all the sponsors for their contribution.

“Without the generosity of local businesses and organisations, event such as this, which provide much needed funds to local causes, would not be as successful,” he said.
