Our arts and events volunteer opportunities offer the chance to:
- Meet and work within dynamic and creative teams
- Gain experience in community events and the arts
- Share your professional skills with developing artists

Art gallery volunteer vacancies
Tanks Arts Centre Art Gallery Attendants
Work times: Thursday to Sunday and Public Holidays 10am – 1pm
Minimum time commitment: 3 hours once a month
Qualifications required: Able to interact with the general public; interest in the arts
Training provided/offered: Full in-house training and a comprehensive induction are provided before commencing your duties.
Court House Gallery Attendants
Work times: Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 1pm or 1pm – 4pm Normal Gallery Hours and Friday to Sunday 5pm – 9pm Evening Events as programmed
Minimum time commitment: 3-4 hours once a month
Qualifications required: Able to interact with the general public; interest in the arts
Training provided/offered: Full in-house training and a comprehensive induction are provided before commencing your duties.
Festival and events volunteer vacancies
Cairns Festival Site Assistants
Work times: Hours vary dependant on the event and day.
Minimum time commitment: 4 hours
Qualifications required: Able to interact with the general public; interest in the arts; some event coordination experience or a desire to learn
Training provided/offered: A comprehensive induction is provided before commencing your duties.
Annual arts and community volunteer opportunities
Cairns Children's Festival
Work times: Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2024
Minimum time commitment: 4 hours
Qualifications required: Able to interact with the general public; interest in the arts; some event coordination experience or a desire to learn
Training provided/offered: A comprehensive induction is provided before commencing your duties.
Cairns Ecofiesta
Work times: Sunday 2 June 2024
Minimum time commitment: 4 hours
Qualifications required: Able to interact with the general public; interest in protecting the environment or the arts
Training provided/offered: A comprehensive induction is provided before commencing your duties.

Become a mentor
If you are an arts professional who would like to give back to your community and guide aspiring creatives, we would love to hear from you.
We are always looking for artists in all fields of creative endeavour to support the next generation of creatives in Cairns.
Mentors might work with young visual artists as part of the Flame.Arts program, support young musicians in the 'Introducing...' program, or guide your actors to develop their stagecraft or a new play.
Opportunities are individual so please provide as much information as possible in the online form so we can match the right mentors and mentees.
