Understory Film Festival 2022 Finalist Film Screening

UFF22 Film Screening

18 April - 29 April

Currently screening is the Understory Film Festival 2022 Finalist Short List, an extraordinary program of films that exemplify the filmmaking talent that abounds in the region.

The Understory Film Festival is entering its 10th year and continues to build upon a strong screen culture and screen industry in Far North Queensland. The festival provides our filmmakers with the opportunity to articulate and share their stories through film shorts under eight minutes. Films submissions are invited from Townsville to Cairns, across Cape York and the Gulf of Carpentaria, extending further north to the Torres Strait Islands.

The films represent a broad cross section of our community that reflect different age groups, diverse cultures, scenery, genres and ideals that make up the region. All submissions are judged by a panel of film industry professionals each year, who select the finalist short list to be screened at the Understory Screening and Awards Presentation Event held in November at Munro Martin Parklands. Awards are presented to the winning filmmakers with a People’s Choice category voted by the audience on the night.

Submissions to Understory Film Festival 2023 are open from May - October with the Screening and Awards Presentation Event taking place in Munro Martin Parklands on Saturday 18 November, 2023.
