Rates

Rates levied against residential and commercial properties help fund essential services, community facilities and infrastructure. Cairns Regional Council issues rates notices twice a year.

Fees & charges

Council's statutory fees and commercial charges are set each financial year and take effect from 1 July.

Pensioner subsidy & concession

Eligible pensioners may be entitled to a State Government subsidy on rates and charges levied by Council and the Council Pensioner Concession on the General Rate.

Rate-based assistance for non-profit groups

Eligible non-profit groups may receive remissions of general rates and sewerage charges. Applications for rate based financial assistance must be lodged prior to 31 May each year.
