Let's get it sorted

Looking after waste and recycling at home can be confusing, working out what belongs in what bin or dealing with those items that don't belong in either bin can be tricky. Let's get it sorted by recycling right, keeping recycling out of waste bins, loving our food and leftovers, placing our wheelie bins out by 6am and pre-sorting our materials for visits to Council transfer stations.

People living in Cairns and surrounds know that we live in paradise and keeping it that way should be important to all of us. Protecting the reef and rainforest starts at home, especially with what we do with our waste and recyclable material. Unfortunately, the amount of waste we are generating is increasing, creating unsustainable economic and environmental costs.

We want to reduce the volume of waste created to help protect our environment, preserve our valuable resources and reduce the costs of handling, transporting and managing waste.
