Here in Cairns we're great recyclers but there's still a lot of confusion about what belongs in the yellow lid recycling bin and what we should be keeping out of our waste bins too.

You can now download a free app on your mobile phone or tablet which can help identify waste and recycling items in real-time (it can even tell you where to take items that don't belong in bins at all). Enter the amazing Recycle Mate App.

Recycle Mate is designed to help you recycle right in Cairns customised for our region.

All you need to do is:

• Download the app
• Take a photo of a product or packaging
• Learn how to recycle or dispose of that item right here in Cairns

Recycle Mate's database is constantly being updated as people across Australia use and help improve it. If you find items not yet listed, you can automatically upload your photo to help the Recycle Mate team build the app's intelligence. Every time you upload a photo of your waste or recycling, you are helping to make the Recycle Mate App even better!

The app is free to download and is available on Apple and Android devices.
